El Salvador is deploying over 2,000 soldiers to Haiti to aid in rescue operations. The elections in Haiti have been postponed. This move follows a visit by Peruvian President Fujimori to a mega-prison in El Salvador, where he expressed interest in building a similar facility in Peru. Some in Haiti view the Salvadoran troops as a source of hope, raising hopes among some, but also causing concerns for others. Additionally, El Salvador participated in the FIBA 3x3 Basketball AmeriCup.
